CLARITY Consortium shares impressions after the site visits

Consortium CLARITY visited all the pilot sites and has shared its impressions.

Representatives of the Consortium together with people in charge of the buildings reviewed the technical area on the roof, in the basements and on different areas of the buildings. They looked at the possibilities for new facilities, energy savings and new actions within the objectives of the procuRE project.

The following describes the current state of the design to be itereated through the Co-Design Procedure with procurers which constitutes a criticle part of the Renovation Approach.

On 31st May 2022, representatives of the Consortium visited the AMB building: the Sant Boi de Llobregat City Hall. According to the Suppliers, the building has been refurbished, but it has not lost its essence as a classic building of great architectural beauty. It has a mix of classic and renewable facilities. Consortium hopes to be able to offer viable and innovative solutions that optimise the building’s consumption, within their global proposal.

On 2 June 2022, representatives of the CLARITY team went to see the Central School Manuel Antonio Pina in Vila Nova de Gaia (Porto). They report that the main use of the building is educational, and it already has modern control and energy optimisation systems. It is a recently constructed building, with installations in perfect condition and some elements of efficiency and renewable energy. However, CLARITY has seen different possibilities for improvement, within the objectives of the procure project, so they also hope to be able to offer an interesting and viable proposal for the Manuel Antonio Pina School in Vila Nova de Gaia.

On 8 June 2022, CLARITY Consortium visited the Stadt Nürnberg Elementary School Zerzabelshof building. They say that the main use of the building is educational, and it already has modern control and energy optimisation systems.

It is a newly constructed building, with new installations and a focus on energy efficiency. However, during the visit we have detected possible areas for improvement, which we will include in our proposal.

On 16 June 2022, representatives were at the Airport of Eilat, located in the Municipality of Eilat (Israel). The visit had two parts:

First, the launch of the kick-off meeting of the Phase I project. In this meeting, CLARITY’s way of working was presented, and the inputs they need were conveyed. The Municipality of Eilat presented the project for the future facilities and spaces at the former Eilat airport. Secondly, the current facilities were visited, checking and verifying the points where action will be taken and where the modifications and construction of new infrastructures will be carried out.

According to the Consortium, the airport does not have a specific use, but in the future it is hoped to expand the facilities and services in the area as part of an ambitious architectural Project, “Terminal Park”. The team hopes to be able to provide complementary solutions to the project to be carried out in the future building.

On 21 June 2022, Suppliers visited the Vinska Gora School. The main use of both buildings is educational, housing between them the primary school of Vinska Gora, and it has heating and hot water systems. CLARITY noticed that it is a building of some age but in perfect condition, with a modern thermal installation, with installations in perfect condition. They have seen different possibilities for improvement within the objectives of the procurement project, and hope to be able to offer an interesting and feasible proposal.

On 14 June 2022, representatives of the CLARITY consortium visited the Bakery school, Firincilik ve Pastacilik Okulu centre in Esenler – Istanbul. The main use of the building is educational, being an important pastry and bakery school near Istanbul.  According to CLARITY, it is a recently constructed building, with installations in perfect condition and some elements that guarantee a certain energy efficiency. It has different typologies of installations with relevant energy consumptions, and an intensive use. Nevertheless, team is studying the possibilities of new installations, energy saving and new actions.

CLARITY Consortium thanks the staff of all of the buildings and Procurers for all the help and information provided during the visit.
