On October 28, the procuRE team hosted an online event as part of EU Sustainable Energy Week. Towards 2030: Reshaping the European Energy System with the following topic: Solutions for the Renovation Wave – Public Procurement for 100% RES Renovations.
Improving the energy performance of the buildings owned by the public sector is key to both achieving the European climate targets and showcasing the best examples. Advanced retrofits, however, are challenging public procurers with their complexity and risks. Bringing together the cities of Istanbul (Turkey), Barcelona (Spain), Velenje (Slovenia), Vila Nova de Gaia (Portugal), Nuremberg (Germany) and Eilat (Israel), the EU-funded project procuRE is investing in R&D services to develop a platform-like approach to bring buildings to 100% RES quickly in one renovation project. This event presents procuRE, the innovative funding instrument Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP), and the upcoming call for funding targeted at suppliers. Partners of the project will discuss interactively with the audience the barriers to renovating buildings to operate on 100% RES and answer questions about the procuRE challenge and the call for funding.
